Music Monday: The Postal Service.

This week's MM is about a man named Ben Gibbard. He's in a small group called The Postal Service, and he's also the vocalist of the band Death Cab For Cutie. The Postal Service is a little Electronic Indie Pop band with the sweetest songs. A former friend had shown them to me in middle school, and I had completely forgot about them until the other day. His music makes me so happy when I listen to it.

My favorites are This Place Is A Prison & Such Great Heights. If you like Death Cab for Cutie, I think you'll like The Postal Service. And if you don't know who Death Cab for Cutie is but you like The Postal Service, then you should definitely check them out! Hope you guys enjoy! Happy Monday, xoxo

Week Recap!

I know the last time I blogged was on Valentines Day, I suppose I'll start with Thursday night. In a previous post I told you guys that I was apart of my school's Diversity Club and how we do lots after school events. That night my school was having a Prom Fashion Show where students get to rent dresses/tuxes from different boutiques around the area and model them for the students so they what's in style and what not. The Diversity Club was selling pizza and pop during the intermission to help raise more money for us to do more activities. My friend David and I had snuck in and watched the show. All the girls looked stunning in all their dresses! I've decided that I'm definitely going to sign up for it next year.

Friday I picked up my brother from my father's house, which is in Michigan. Didn't do anything for the rest of the night. Saturday morning my best friend and I went shopping at the mall. I finally got the bra of my dreams from Hot Topic. They dropped the price on it from 30 to 18, I was definitely a happy camper. It's a grey bustier with a beautiful floral design on it. Sorry it's that a little TMI for some of you! I also got these super cute pink sunglasses at Charlotte Russe for only $5! I snagged up some cardigans and a dress also. My Saturday was successful!

On Sunday I went to the mall again and bought my Momma her birthday present since her birthday was the 20th. I got her a cute little gift basket from Bath & Body Works. Afterwards I had a nice dinner with the family at Steak & Shake. After dinner I took both of my brothers to my dad's house to stay the night. My dad lives in a small town 10 minutes from Mishawaka. Monday was a lazy day for me, I was supposed to spend the day with my dad and go shopping but unfortunately he got called into work, so I skipped school on Tuesday to hangout with him because we don't get to see each other often. Tuesday he took me to get my  hair done, which I'm a little iffy on. My original plan was to do a completely different color. My dad suggested that I do a sandy blonde like Chelsea from Teen Mom. I considered it for a while and gave in. I thought 'Why the hell not? It's just hair'. When I got to the salon the lady said that it would turn orange since my hair was red at the time, so I just redyed it red. It's not as bright as I'd like it to be.

 After
(Not much of a difference, I know)

After getting my hair done, my dad treated me to a nice manicure. I'm not usually not one to paint my nails all the time so I got fake frenchies :) I got a cute little Hello Kitty design on one of my nails. I wish I could show you a picture of it, but my phone's camera doesn't focus like it used to. I think it's time for a new phone! Anyways, I spent the rest of the day with my best friend just lounging around the house. I had a pretty laid back weekend. Here are some photos from the weekend.

Tug Of War with Sweet Baby Mia :)
Watching the pups play & Cristian play Grand Theft Auto at Dads.
Fruit Salad, Pomegranate Green Tea, & Xbox
Lazy Charlotte chillin' on Mama's bed.
 Potential Prom Dress?!
What are your thoughts on it? It's only $109, a heck of a lot cheaper than the others!
And of course Baby Cuddles watching the snow fall :)

Sorry for such a late post! I've been a little lazy (;

Music Monday: Florence + The Machine (Late, I know!)

This week's MM was discovered when that movie 'Eat Pray Love' came out. Florence + The Machine had a song in the movie called 'The Dog Days Are Over', at first I thought it was weird but it since it was on every other commercial I started singing along and listening to it more. I looked up more of her music and really started liking her. Their new album 'Ceremonials' is amazing. Florence's voice is definitely in my top 5 favorites.

My favorites are No Light, No Light & Cosmic Love. She also does a really nice cover of Halo by Beyonce, so if you like her music you should definitely check it out. Also, I'm very sorry about my lack of posting on here. This four day weekend has been a full one. Right now I'm making a super long post covering all of last week's fun.

Happy Valentines Day! :)

I just want to start off by saying Happy Valentines Day to everyone! :) I hope y'all had a good day. Today was just like any other day for me. No valentine, but I'm okay with that. I hungout with my best friend and his boyfriend today, and let me just say that I am definitely SO jealous of the gift he got today. He got a pair of black JC Litas. A lot of people don't like them because they're too 'hipster', but I am absolutely head over heels for them. I took a vow that I WILL get my own pair just in time for prom. We went to Applebees for a bit and had a nice dinner, and now I'm home with the babies sipping on my nightly cup of green tea.

Last night I made cupcakes for my vocational class. I tried a new recipe that I found on the Wilton website. They're Pink Lemonade cupcakes with strawberry frosting and buttercream roses. They were delicious!

(Sorry for the crap quality)
Cake

  • 1 package white cake mix
  • 1 small package vanilla instant pudding
  • 3 Tbsp sweetened pink lemonade drink mix (like Country Time Pink Lemonade mix)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp lemon zest
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 4 whites eggs (save the yolks for tomorrows recipe)
  • 6 drops of pink food coloring
You can use whatever frosting you want, I chose to use strawberry. This was my first time making buttercream roses, and I was pretty proud of myself. The first rose looked really good and was easy, and then everything went down hill from there. I feel like the buttercream frosting that I made wasn't thick enough and that's why the frosting kept melting, which is probably why they kept falling apart. I watched tons of videos on Youtube on how to make the perfect rose. Hopefully next time they'll turn out better.

Fortunately, I have a four day week this week for school. I am so looking forward to this much needed four day weekend. Hopefully I'll be hanging out with some old friends, but for now I think it's time for a relaxing bubble bath! Goodnight everyone, sweet dreams :) xo

Music Monday: He Is We

This week's MM was discovered last week. My friends Kelsie, David, and I went prom dress shopping and on our way to the boutique Kelsie played a song called Pardon Me by He Is We. I fell in love. He Is We is an indie pop band from Washington. I don't really know much about them because I just found out about them, but the girl's voice is simply beautiful. I had been listening to the song Pardon Me over and over again these past couple of days. I started listening to some of their other music and they're really not bad at all.

My absolute favorites are Pardon Me and I Wouldn't Mind. Hopefully this is better than last week's MM for some of you (; Happy Monday everyone! xoxo

Late Night Blawgin'.

It's 1:19 am and I'm sitting here with Pardon Me by He Is We on repeat, sipping on hibiscus tea, and constantly having to remove Cuddles from the keyboard so I can type. Tried to go to sleep around 9, but kept rolling around for about an hour. I've just got too much on my mind. I keep thinking about the past and how everything has changed. Nothing's how it used to be. Which is good and bad at the same time.

The snow looks so delicate as it falls into the ocean of white covering every inch of the ground. Wish I had someone to make snow angels with. Tomorrow would be the perfect day to go sledding, if only I had a sled. I feel lost inside my own mind. Too many thoughts racing all at once. I feel like I'm ADD with all the topics I keep changing.

Nostalgia: N; a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time:

That is exactly how I feel. As cheesy as this may sound, my heart aches for a past love. I won't sit here and complain about how lonely I feel and blah blah blah. But, I won't lie, I miss him. I'm excited to have the whole house to myself tomorrow. Sounds like a lazy movie day to me.

My nails are screaming for a manicure, suppose I should get on that. Anything to peel me away from this computer. Sweet dreams everyone, xox.

Opinion Time!

So today my friends and I went to a little boutique in Hobart that sells prom dresses. We were walking around for a while and nothing really popped out at me until I spotted this...

This was the most beautiful dress in the whole store. I had one of those moments where everything else just does not matter to you. Unfortunately they didn't have it in my size, so if I really decide to get it I'll have to order it in. Which is no big deal for me. This dress is all around perfect for me. The lace, the pearls, the gems, the big beautiful bow in front. The only downside to this dress.....it's $550. That's definitely a lot of money for a dress that I'll probably only wear for one night. As I was looking for dresses for my friend Kelsie to try on, I found another dress that I liked. I didn't like it as much as I liked the first one, but it's still cute.

At first I wasn't real into the whole 'short in the front, long in the back' look. Reminds me of a mullet. But I love the colors and of course the flower bow won my heart. They didn't have this one in my size either and I didn't look at the price on it. So this is where I need your help! I love them both but I'm not quite sure which to get. I'll obviously have to find a job ASAP to help pay for the first one. If you were in my shoes which dress would you get? Leave a comment telling me your favorite! :)

Pen Pals?!

Things have been really boring for me lately, like....really boring. I've been getting really tired of talking to the same people everyday, so I was thinking, why not make some pen pals?! I love getting to know new people. We can do it the old fashioned way and send letters/packages/etc. or talk online. Whichever you're most comfortable with. I may be a bit awkward and shy at first, but I promise, when I get comfortable around people and break out of my shell, I can be the funniest girl you'll meet. If any of you are really interested in becoming my pen pal, you can email me (alexsilva418@gmail.com) or catch me on facebook (which is linked on the upper right hand corner)! I hope to hear from some of you, it'd be cool to get to know some new people :)

Music Monday: Iwrestledabearonce

Alaskan Flounder Basket by I Wrestled a Bear Once on Grooveshark

This weeks Music Monday is about a band called Iwrestledabearonce. They're a screamo band from Louisiana. This isn't like the other music from my past MM posts, I hope atleast some of you like them :) They are my all time favorite band! I found them back in 8th grade & for the longest time I thought the person screaming was a guy. When I found out a girl did the vocals I was shocked, I honestly didn't believe it. Some people aren't a big fan of her but I sure think she's got talent. I like how they can go from hard to slow all in one song. I was supposed to see them at Warped Tour two summers ago but they dropped out right before coming to my town, then I was supposed to go see them last summer at All Stars Tour but I didn't end up going :( This summer, I swear I'll see them!

Unfortunately Grooveshark isn't very familiar with them so I could only find one song to share :( But if you like this song, you should definitely listen to more of their music on Youtube! They're newest album (Ruining It For Everybody) is my absolute favorite. Deodorant Can't Fix Ugly is my favorite song at the moment. I hope you guys like them! Happy Monday xoxo

My Weird Obsession.

I think everyone has one thing that they obsess over. Whether it be a certain animal, singer/band, food, anything. I happen to obsess over three things. Cats, flowers, and body modifications. All three of them make me happy and I can't help but love the hell outta them. This post we'll talk about my flower obsession. When I was a little girl I lived with my mom in my grandparents house. My grandparents used to grow a big, beautiful garden in our backyard. We had 7 different flower beds outlining our backyard with beautiful, blossoming flowers covering each inch. We had garden gnomes in each flower bed also. The grass was always cut every couple days and we had Zeppelin blasting from the stereo while we had the family over for bonfires. Sadly, we stopped having bonfires and my grandparents have gotten so busy that no one plants flowers anymore. Everytime I see pictures of flowers or gardens it takes me back to those days and makes me happy. Plus, they're just downright gorgeous.

I love this picture so much I put it as my desktop background.
I would be in Heaven if I lived there.

Maybe if this culinary career doesn't work out I'll become a florist?! I made a promise to myself that this summer I'll keep up with the garden and make it as beautiful as it used to be. Spring needs to hurry!
What is your obsession?
